LOVED this! At first glance I thought it would be a cute retelling of the Persephone myth but it was infinitely more. It's filled with complex and intriguing characters whose story lines intertwine (after a while so don't expect a breakneck pace. Trust me, it's worth the simmer when you finally get to the boiling point). There's class struggle, political intrigue, espionage, and of course Death. Or lack therof. It's a glorious read and the first in an expected trilogy. It was so good that I actually yelled out "Nooooo!" when I read "To be continued" at the end.
EAGERLY awaiting book 2. In the mean time I think I'll check out some of Vera Nazarian's other books!
